The Ohio School for the Deaf High School is part of the new 62,000-square foot academic building, complete with brightly lit rooms, colorful walls, large open spaces and the right technology to enhance and diversify learning. 

We also have an amazing, well-trained faculty and happy, eager students. OSD teachers and support staff encourage students to think creatively and critically as independent learners and teach them to work collaboratively with others to build knowledge, trust and relationships.

We use a number of resources to compliment what we teach and the way we learn. We want to extend the walls of our classrooms, to bring the world to OSD and place it in the palms of our students’ hands. We encourage our students to explore their talents so they can build their knowledge and develop their skills. 

Passion drives the work at the Ohio School for the Deaf, and as a result, we have fun when we learn from one another.

The High School includes students in grades 9-12, though some stay for a fifth or sixth year for additional learning and support through our 4Plus transition program. By law, they may stay enrolled until the day before their 22nd birthday. 

OSD requires students to earn 25 credits for a diploma. Students have the option of receiving a dual diploma from their home school district as long as they meet all necessary requirements for both. Students also must complete IEP goals and objectives as mandated by the Ohio Department of Education.

We have partnerships with Whetstone High School and the Delaware Area Career Center. Students may attend either school if they meet the qualifications. These option allow students to continue to earn high school credits in a mainstream setting with support from OSD teachers and staff. Earned credits are incorporated into the student's final transcript from OSD. Those who attend DACC will earn a credential when they complete the program they’ve selected.

Students who want to go to college after graduation can earn college credit while still in high school if they meet the requirements for our Post Secondary Education Options program through Columbus State Community College. Coursework completed through CSCC will also be incorporated into the student’s final transcript from OSD.
