At OSD passion drives our educational programs. Students progress in traditional content areas with a priority in reading, language arts, science, mathematics, and social studies, as well as art, physical education, library, and more. In the classroom individual time is spent with each student as they move towards mastery on IEP goals. Students have fun while learning from their teachers and peers.

To ensure communication is accessible to all students, instruction is primarily through direct communication provided in American Sign Language (ASL). Students have the opportunity to cultivate a deeper understanding of ASL and Deaf culture through the Deaf Studies classes. OSD teachers and staff encourage students to think creatively and critically as independent learners. They teach students to work collaboratively with others to build knowledge, trust and relationships. 

Our K-12 school building is equipped with the right technology to enhance and diversify learning. We use a number of resources to compliment what we teach and the way students learn. We want to extend the walls of our classrooms, to bring the world to OSD and place it in the palms of our students’ hands. We encourage our students to explore their talents so they can build their knowledge and develop their skills so they can be ready for a successful future. We believe all students will thrive in our school and through our individualized programming, access to communication and direct interaction with their teachers, caregivers, and peers.
