Frequently Asked Questions about Student Attendance

If students becomes sick with COVID-19, or any other illness, can they make up their schoolwork? Would materials be sent home?


Can students learn virtually if they have COVID-19 (or any other illness) and are feeling well enough or are asymptomatic until they are able to return to school?


Can students learn virtually if they are quarantined due to exposure to COVID-19 until they are able to return to school?


Will a student need medical clearance after having COVID-19 prior to returning to school?

All staff and students are subject to our COVID-19 Screening and Isolation Policy and will follow those requirements about when they return to school. OSD and OSSB will also work closely with Columbus Public Health in the event of a COVID-19 positive case on campus.

Are families able to change their mind about their student’s learning model? For example, can a family who chose remote learning decide they wish to transfer to the hybrid model? Or can a student leave the hybrid model and enter remote learning?

These requests will have to be considered on a case-by-case basis. In general, students will not be permitted to transfer from the remote learning model to the hybrid model mid-semester. Scheduling, staffing and dorm space will have to be taken into consideration. It is more likely that a student would be able to transfer from the hybrid model to the remote learning model, should they request such a transfer.
