OSD AND OSSB COVID-19 NOTIFICATION POLICY

Note: This plan is subject to change pursuant to state, county or city ordinances or new guidance provided by the CDC, ODH, ODE, local health departments or any other prevailing authority

 

If any student or staff member (staff member is an inclusive term and includes but is not limited to all salaried and hourly employees, vendors, contractors and volunteers) tests positive for COVID-19 through laboratory testing or is diagnosed as COVID-19 positive through clinical examination must notify OSD and OSSB and are encouraged to do so no later than twenty-four (24) hours after receiving a confirmed diagnoses.   Parents/Guardians, students or staff members shall notify OSD or OSSB by either 1) calling OSD and OSSB’s COVID-19 Coordinator, Tobbi Reeves-Valentine, with Student Health Services at (614)-907-2284, or 2) emailing OSD and OSSB’s COVID-19 Coordinator at covidreporting@osdb.oh.gov.  


If any student or staff member at OSD or OSSB tests positive for COVID-19 or is diagnosed as COVID-19 positive by clinical examination, the following written notifications will occur within twenty-four (24) hours of the schools becoming aware of the COVID-19 positive test result or diagnoses:

  1. To all staff members and parents/guardians of students who share a classroom space, residential space or who have participated in a school activity during the COVID-19 infection period of a student, teacher, staff member or coach.   This notification will be made in writing sent home with staff and students and/or via email.  Staff members and parents/guardians will also be notified via telephone in this circumstance.
     
  2. To all staff members and parents/ guardians of students on the campus at which the positive COVID-19 case was reported.   This school-wide notification will be made via the e-mail address on file with OSD and/or OSSB.
     

Within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving notice of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis of a student or staff member on OSD or OSSB’s campus, OSD and/or OSSB shall notify Columbus Public Health.
 

OSD and OSSB’s websites (https://osd.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/osd/ and  https://ossb.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/ossb/ ) will be updated regularly to inform the school community of the number of COVID-19 cases on OSD and OSSB’s campuses and the number of students and staff isolated or quarantined, if known.
